David’s Story

David Curtis was working for a company in the private ambulance industry when he was laid off. After 30 years in the business, he considered switching up his career, and his forced exit prompted him to consider new opportunities. So when an franchise industry consultant called him to discuss the benefits of owning a ShelfGenie® franchise, he was interested.

David had long wanted to be his own boss, and purchasing an established franchise in a growing market seemed like the perfect opportunity. In 2021, he acquired the established ShelfGenie of Chicago in Schaumburg, Illinois. David said the Neighborly® system and owner network sets businesses up for success.

“My neighboring franchise owner went on my first appointment that I did alone to help make sure I was comfortable,” David said. “He met with me many times to help me get my business up and running and continues to help and give advice on an ongoing basis.”
