PENNY'S STORY

When husband and wife team Penny and Allen Ellison both lost their jobs on the same day in 2009, they decided their next move would be starting a career that gave them control over their future. They wanted a business of their own; one that gave them autonomy and freedom. That same year, they launched Mr. Handyman® of West Knoxville, bringing a brand-new franchise to the area.

In 2019, Allen passed away and Penny saw firsthand just how dedicated Mr. Handyman franchise owners were to helping others. Even after putting in full days at their businesses, many owners spent their evenings and weekends helping Penny and asking nothing in return.

Today, her business is thriving, and she lives by her own advice: Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You’ll learn so much from other franchise owners.
