After more than 20 years in appliance repair, Rob knew the industry was changing—and changing fast.
“Technology was shifting so quickly that small mom-and-pop shops were going to struggle,” he recalls. While he had the technical expertise, stepping out on his own felt risky. That’s when Regina suggested exploring franchising. Their search led them to Mr. Appliance ®, and everything clicked. “We liked what we saw, and it gave me the comfort to finally take the leap,” Rob says.
What started as a decision to create stability for their own family soon became something much larger. Today, their franchise helps support more than 30 families. “Owning a franchise allows us to better the lives of our employees,” Regina says. That sense of responsibility—and pride—became a driving force behind their growth.
Their team members feel it, too. One long‑time employee describes working for Rob and Regina as a genuine pleasure. “We’ve built Mr. Appliance into what it is today over the past five years. My favorite part is working with our technicians. We have a great team, and everyone helps each other. It really feels like family.”
For Rob, one of the biggest lessons in ownership was realizing he didn’t have to do everything alone. Once he embraced the power of building a strong team, the business took off. “The team we’ve put together over the last couple of years is amazing. We couldn’t have done this without them,” he says.
That community extends far beyond their local franchise. The pair points to the support of other Mr. Appliance owners as one of the greatest benefits of franchising. “We can call them for any type of advice—business or personal. That kind of support is invaluable.”
Their dedication paid off in a big way: being named Franchise of the Year. “It’s a great accomplishment,” Rob says. “When I bought the franchise, my goal was to be one of the top franchisees—and we achieved that.” He’s especially proud to stand alongside previous winners he had long admired, being named the Mr. Appliance 2025 Franchise Owners of the Year.
Looking back, Robin reflects on the importance of embracing risk. “I’ve learned that I can step out of my security blanket. If you don’t take the risk, you’ll never see the rewards.”
