I realized I had to be in control of my own destiny.

I love my Window Genie franchise. I love everything about it.

I’m growing a legacy.

When Robin McKenna lost her job in 2012, she found herself facing an uncertain economy and a job market that wasn’t friendly to candidates her age.

After months of searching, she realized it was time to regain control of her future. That turning point inspired her to explore business ownership and eventually led her to Window Genie®, part of the Neighborly® family of home service brands.

Today, Robin and her son Michael own Window Genie of Princeton, a thriving, respected business built through hard work, a strong support network, and a shared commitment to customers and community.

Robin remembers the moment she knew she needed to make a change. Interviews were scarce, unemployment was high, and the corporate world she had spent decades in no longer felt stable.

“I realized I had to be in control of my own destiny,” she says. That realization opened the door to franchising and a new chapter for her family.

With an MBA and more than 20 years of experience in the annuity industry, Robin recognized a familiar business model inside Window Genie. Customers who first hired the team for window cleaning often returned later for power washing or gutter services.

For Robin, that meant recurring relationships, long-term growth, and the ability to build true customer value over time. Window Genie offered a framework that aligned perfectly with the way she thought about sustainable business.

From the moment she joined the network, Robin felt embraced by the Window Genie community. Guidance came through calls with fellow owners, conversations inside the owner Facebook group, and mentorship from peers in nearby markets.

She still remembers the day another owner called her for advice. “I thought, wow, it’s come full circle. We help one another all the time.”

Robin often says that joining Window Genie means joining a family. That sense of unity and encouragement continues to be one of the things she values most.

Robin takes enormous pride in the business she has built. She employs a team that feels like an extension of her own family, and together they follow the Neighborly Code of Values every day.

Over the years, the Princeton community has come to know her team as trustworthy, dependable, and committed to quality. “I love everything about my franchise,” she says. “We’re a big happy family, and people love working for us.”

Michael has also grown into a key leader. His work in the field gives him a deep understanding of customer needs and technician challenges, and he has become instrumental in managing the team and supporting their development.

What began in their home was later moved to a storage unit, then evolved into a full office where the team trains, interviews, and prepares for each workday. That growth represents more than just a business milestone. For Robin, it symbolizes the legacy she is creating for her family and community.

“I’m growing a legacy,” she says proudly.
