Jim & Stacey Casey’s Success Story

You can’t do it by yourself… [But] being part of a franchise allows you to see how others succeed and learn from it.

The biggest way that Rainbow changed my life was being able to be around other [like-minded] people in the industry.

[Our experience] shows that a whole community or a group of people can come together and make you bigger than you are by yourself and that hard work and hard work pays off.

When Jim and Stacy Casey opened Rainbow Restoration® of Athens, Georgia in September 2012, they didn’t just invest in a business—they invested in a community, a long-term vision, and each other.

What began as a way to supplement Jim’s construction company quickly became a purpose driven operation that now stands as Rainbow Restoration’s 2023 Franchise of the Year.

At first, Rainbow seemed like a smart add-on to their already established business. But within two years, it became clear that Rainbow Restoration offered greater scalability, stronger demand, and a deeper opportunity to serve people during their most vulnerable moments. Jim and Stacy made the decision to go all in—shifting their full focus to Rainbow and setting the foundation for meaningful growth.

However, that growth didn’t come without challenges.

Just months into ownership, the 2013 polar vortex hit Athens with single digit temperatures—conditions the area wasn’t built for. Widespread pipe freezes created an overwhelming influx of water damage losses. As new owners, the Caseys weren’t sure what to do next. What they did know was that they weren’t alone.

A call from a fellow Rainbow owner led to shared resources, rented equipment, and real-time guidance. That moment changed everything. Forced to pivot quickly, Jim and Stacy transformed their operations—scaling from handling one job at a time to running efficiently across multiple projects. The experience proved what would become a recurring truth: the Neighborly® network shows up when it matters most.

Today, Rainbow Restoration of Athens operates with 23 employees, offering fire, water, mold, trauma scene cleanup, and reconstruction services. What truly sets them apart, though, is their culture.

Both owners lead with empathy and humility. Jim works shoulder-to-shoulder with his team when needed, modeling servant leadership and accountability. Stacy brings her background as a teacher into the business, mentoring employees and helping young team members grow into confident professionals. The result is a workplace that feels less like a job—and more like a family.

That culture is also powered by connections beyond the local franchise. Through Neighborly reunions, regional meetings, and ongoing collaboration, the Caseys regularly exchange ideas with hundreds of franchise owners nationwide. Whether it’s sharing best practices or partnering with fellow Neighborly brands, they’ve seen firsthand how good neighbors help each other grow.

For Jim and Stacy, success isn’t measured only by revenue or square footage expansion—even though they’ve gone from working out of their home to purchasing and outgrowing an 18,000 square foot facility. It’s measured by happy customers, empowered employees, and the knowledge that hard work, done the right way, truly pays off.

“You can’t do it by yourself,” Jim says. “Being part of a franchise allows you to see how others succeed and learn from it.”

Their journey is proof that with the right brand, support system, and culture, franchise ownership isn’t a sprint—it’s a marathon worth running.
