Our operation today has grown beyond belief, and this award feels like recognition of how far we have come.

I came from a very humble background. We did not have a lot of extra things. That was one of the driving factors that led me to be successful.

It has become more about helping others grow. That is what motivates me now.

Winning Franchise of the Year once is an incredible achievement. Winning it twice speaks to a level of leadership, culture, and consistency that few ever reach.

For Joel Belyew of Precision Garage Door Service®, this recognition has become a defining milestone in his franchise journey and a source of pride for his entire team.

The first time Joel earned Franchise of the Year, back in 2021, the award was new. The criteria were unfamiliar, and the process was not widely understood. “There was a lot of head scratching,” Joel recalls. “We wondered how we possibly won because we had such high regard for other owners who were performing at a very high level.” To come full circle and win again in 2025 carries even more meaning.

“This time it carries more weight,” Joel says. “I think we are going to celebrate it a lot more. Our operation today has grown beyond belief, and this award feels like recognition of how far we have come.”

For Joel, the success of his business represents more than strong financial results. It represents opportunity, security, and growth for his family. He reflects often on his humble upbringing and how those early experiences shaped his drive.

“I came from a very humble background. We did not have a lot of extra things,” he says. “That was one of the driving factors that led me to be successful.”

Owning and growing his franchise has provided stability and opened doors that once did not seem possible. It has also brought meaningful relationships into his life. “We have so many friends in the system who have helped shape my life,” he says. “They have made me a better person, better friend, better father, better everything.”

Joel believes that leadership requires humility and a willingness to put others first. One of the principles he shares with his team is something he calls “learn to win last.”

“There are always going to be jobs that do not go right,” he explains. “Be comfortable in that situation. Take the loss and give the customer the win. If you do that, 99 percent of the time the employees, the customer, and the business all win together.”

This mindset has helped Joel build a culture rooted in integrity, accountability, and mutual respect.

Joel’s dedication to his team extends far beyond standard business operations. He believes deeply in creating experiences that make people feel valued.

“Go beyond showing up and punching in,” Joel says. “Try to make your lives overlap a little.”

One of the clearest signs of the impact he has made is found in the parking lot. “Ten or twelve years ago, it was full of junkers,” he says. “Now it is all latemodel, perfectly clean personal vehicles. That is what it looks like when you help elevate others.”

At this point in his career, Joel finds the most fulfillment not from personal achievement, but from watching others succeed. “It has become more about helping others grow,” he says. “That is what motivates me now.”

His journey shows what is possible when a leader is committed to excellence, grounded in humility, and deeply invested in the people around him.
