My wife and I love Mosquito Joe. It was one of the best decisions we have ever made.
The support has been nothing short of astounding. From day one we knew this was the company for us.
[Franchise ownership] has given us the freedom to live the life we want to live.
It is nice to be able to build something and watch our kids grow into entrepreneurs. We have always taught them to work hard, and this business reinforces that.
When Kirk and his wife began exploring franchise opportunities, they were searching for something that offered independence, stability, and a future they could build together.
With a long track record in sales and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Kirk knew he wanted a business that rewarded hard work and created room for his family to be involved. Mosquito Joe® became the perfect match.
“My wife and I love Mosquito Joe. It was one of the best decisions we have ever made,” Kirk says. They launched their business in 2020 and now serve the Central Valley of California.
Kirk’s background in commission-based sales meant he was already used to the responsibility and drive required to succeed on his own. “If you don’t sell, you don’t eat,” he explains. With three children and a growing family, that motivation shaped his early commitment to franchise ownership.
Today, the Gallenkamp business is a full family effort. His wife, Kelly, supports the office, handles customer calls, and joins Kirk at home shows and community events. Their son Austin manages operations and brings valuable technical skills to the business. He maintains equipment, schedules routes, and oversees day-to-day logistics. Their daughter supports social media and marketing.
“It is absolutely a family business,” Kirk says. “We could not do it without each of them.”
From the very first discovery visit at headquarters, Kirk and Kelly felt confident in the team behind the brand. Meeting leadership and seeing the structure of the system gave them confidence that Mosquito Joe was the right fit.
“The support has been nothing short of astounding,” Kirk explains. “From day one we knew this was the company for us.”
Before franchising, the Gallenkamps were pulled in many directions. Kirk was tied to office hours despite being in commission-only sales, and Kelly spent long days commuting for a demanding real estate job that kept her away on many weekends.
Mosquito Joe opened a new chapter in their lives. Kelly was able to leave her full‑time position and now enjoys more time with family, including a new grandchild. Their schedule is more flexible, and their work is aligned with the lifestyle they hoped to create.
“It has given us the freedom to live the life we want to live,” Kirk says.
Beyond day-to-day operations, the Gallenkamps see their franchise as a long-term investment for their children. Austin is already preparing to take over one day, and their daughter will inherit her share of the business.
“It is nice to be able to build something and watch our kids grow into entrepreneurs,” Kirk says. “We have always taught them to work hard, and this business reinforces that.”
For the Gallenkamps, Mosquito Joe is more than a job. It is a chance to create opportunities, support their family, and build something meaningful together.
