For Xavier Castillo and Kyle Fagan, joining Junk King® in 2024 marked the start of a brand‑new chapter—one built on experience, ambition, and the desire to create something of their own.

“Prior to Junk King, I was in the industry already for about a decade,” Kyle shares. Avira’s journey was similar. “I was in the service industry, and we handled junk for around 10 years,” he adds. “We wanted to make a change in our career path. We wanted to build our own business, grow our own thing.”

They both knew they wanted a business that aligned with what they already did well—and a franchise system that would give them the structure, support, and momentum to grow quickly. “We have experience in the service industry and with franchise systems,” Avira explains. “So we figured that was the easiest and fastest way to grow a business with systems already in place.”

That search led them to explore multiple junk removal franchises in their territory. They approached all of them. But only one brand stood out. “We ended up deciding to go with Junk King because after the first couple of phone calls, we felt that connection,” they say. “They were also the only ones offering multiple options for clients to be helped—full-service junk removal, dumpsters, and the bags.”

The combination of personal connection, service flexibility, and brand vision made the choice clear. Junk King was the right fit.

Since becoming franchise owners, Xavier and Kyle describe life as “definitely a bit more exciting.” Every day brings something new, something different, something that keeps the work fresh. “One of the beauties of the junk removal service is you start fresh every single day,” Kyle says. “You have no boring days. Every single day is different.”

Now, every win is truly theirs. “When you get a big win, it’s a big win for you,” Kyle says. “Not a big win for someone else.” That ownership—over their success, their future, their limitless potential—is something they don’t take for granted. “I feel more optimistic,” he adds. “There’s no ceiling on how successful we can be.”

For Xavier and Kyle, another standout part of the Junk King experience is the brand’s willingness to innovate. “One thing I particularly enjoy is they’re not sitting still,” Avira says. “They’re willing to try new things, and we’ve experienced that. They like to grow with us.”

Whether it’s technology improvements or new marketing pilots, the brand is evolving right alongside its franchisees. “They request volunteers to test things—like social media pilots,” Kyle explains. “They’re out there working just as hard as us to grow our business. For us. With us.”

At the heart of it all, they love the impact their business makes. “We like that we can keep our footprint small,” Xavier says. “We help the planet, recycle as much as we can.” And just as important is the human impact. “A lot of the time, we’re dealing with people going through difficult situations—someone passed away, a foreclosure, something not great. And we’re able to go in and make things a little bit better for them.”

For Xavier and Kyle, Junk King isn’t just a business. It’s meaningful work, a real connection, and a future they’re building on their own terms.
